The “Science. Art. Film.” series explores the weird, wacky and wonderful facets of science. The films are screened in the Arc Cinema of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (on the ANU campus) after a short introduction, followed by a panel discussion with experts from different disciplines and plenty of time for questions and thoughts from the audience.
It’ll start with a post-apocalyptic sci-fi set in a world of sand (Tank Girl), followed by a satirical sci-fi about someone who creates a female AI (S1m0ne), followed by Nolan’s Inception (which will have a discussion with a philosopher and an architect), and finally Children of Men, a dystopian vision of our world (set in 2027, after 18 years of total human infertility…), with discussions with colleagues from criminology and demography.
